| Anna Simons of Sheffield will use the $3,000 scholarship toward tuition at Norwich University |

First Wind, an independent U.S.-based wind energy company, today announced that Anna Simons of Sheffield, VT has been awarded a scholarship as part of the 2010 First Wind Scholars program. In total, eleven scholarships have been awarded to college-bound students in communities where the company currently has a project in operation or in an advanced stage of development. Launched in October 2009, First Wind Scholars offers one-time $3,000 scholarships to support local high school students who display strong potential for a successful college experience, as well as interest in the environment, energy, or the sciences. Successful applicants were chosen based on a number of factors, including: academic performance, standardized test scores, community service activity and a 300-word essay. Anna Simons of Sheffield is a recent graduate of the Lyndon Institute. She will use her scholarship toward tuition at Norwich University in Northfield, VT, where she will study Engineering Management.
